About the Project:
The University Called us to investigate and provide a quote on some leaking downpipes in the building that cause water to leak into the building when it rains.
The Problem:
The 150mm metal pipes that collect the roof water were rusty and old, which formed holes in the pipe causing it to leak when water entered the pipe. The challenge we had on this project was bringing all the tools onto the rooftop in a safe manner which required working at heights permits.
How We Fixed It:
We relined the downpipes using a slow cure resin. As the pipes were 20m high, the weight of the liner with water inside would have caused it to slowly stretch and drop to the bottom with gravity. Using air only reduced the weight, which meant we had to leave the liners overnight to fully cure, which minimise the risk and gave us a great result.
