About the project:
Ed has a waterfront home located next to tamarama beach that was renovated a few years back. They experienced a bad sewer smell which not long after lead to a blocked toilet. When we attended the property we were able to partially unblock the drain using a high pressure water jet blaster. We then CCTV inspected the pipe to find the boundary trap was blocked with concrete and tile grout from the original renovation which could not be removed, The only option was to excavate and replace the pipe.
The Problem:
The pipe in this area was 4m deep in sand and had a large tree next the pipe that we were concerned would fall over due to the depth of hole. As the house was located on sand we had to be strategic on how we would repair the pipe in a safe manner.
How we fixed it:
Using Timber shoring we safely barricaded the area during the excavation process to protect the trench from caving in and the tree from falling down. Once we got down to the 4m depth we replaced the pipe with new PVC pipe and raised an inspection opening back to ground level for future access.
